The Jackson County Public Library System is a Department of Jackson County Government and operates within its structure under auspices of Jackson County Board of Commissioners. The library is charged with providing library services to all residents.
The library is funded by the County Commission, State of Florida, by Federal and Private Foundation Grants, and gifts.
Jackson County Public Library is a member of the Panhandle Library Access Network (PLAN) a consortium serving 17 counties in the Florida Panhandle. Jackson County Public Library is also a member of Panhandle Public Library Cooperative System (PPLCS) which includes three other counties: Calhoun, Washington, and Holmes. Patrons are served by any one of the 4 libraries in the Cooperative service area
