Literacy Programs
Adult Basic Literacy
The Adult Basic Literacy Program assists adults who are not currently enrolled in high school and wish to improve their literacy levels. Learners are paired with literacy volunteers or staff members and may be placed in small groups or tutored on a one to one basis. The staff and volunteers of the Jackson County Public Learning Center Annex provide a positive, safe, confidential environment for learners seeking to improve their skills in basic literacy. New learners are always welcome.
English as a Second Language
The staff and volunteers at the Jackson County Public Library Learning Center offer English classes/one on one tutoring to adult students who wish to learn English as a Second Language. Assistance in preparation for citizenship is also offered at the Learning Center. Volunteers and learners are actively recruited for this program.
Computer literacy
An on-line computer lab with ten computers is available free for public use. Learners may develop skills in computer usage with online tutorials and courses. Jackson County Public Library Learning Center staff and volunteers are available to learners for assistance.
